What are Veneers?

Veneers are small pieces of porcelain that act as a shell for the outer surface of your teeth. Each veneer is custom made for each tooth to create a perfect smile. Once they are all cemented onto your teeth, they will come together giving you a straighter, brighter, and more appealing smile. Veneers are custom made to the desired shade and shape you would like and will fix problems such as:

  • Gaps in your teeth
  • Lengthen your teeth
  • Chips and cracks in your teeth
  • Misalignment
  • Discoloration and stains

Veneers are very durable, but are not completely permanent. If a veneer does come loose, the re-cementation process is quick and easy.

What is the Procedure for Veneers?

When you express interest in veneers, the process will begin with a consultation with our dental professional. We will look over your oral history and check to ensure that your teeth are strong enough to hold the veneers. The dentist will talk to you about your desired results and take impressions of your teeth which will help create the veneers. Minor buffing of your teeth will be done in order to create space for the veneers to be placed onto the teeth.

Your smile impressions and the veneer measurements and changes will be sent to a dental laboratory to be fabricated for your specific smile.

At a later visit to the dentist, the veneers will be applied. Your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and dried and then a dental adhesive will be used to cement the veneers to your teeth. Veneers will be hardened using a special blue light. After this visit, you will have a completely new smile. Good oral hygiene should be practiced and your teeth should be treated as normal. At first, you might feel as though something is on your teeth, but that feeling will pass with time.
